The experience has been of great value. What I enjoyed most has been receiving great insights from a couple of successful individuals, as well as learning the importance of strategic planning.

It was interesting to find out that energy and electricity can be used interchangeably, and are like magnets. Things just don’t happen and nothing is by chance but everything has a purpose. The people I encounter, the opportunities I get, and even the challenges that come though are there for a purpose.

For some time, some individuals were giving me the impression that making a profit is seen as pursuing “selfish” interest. But during this presentation, I learned that there is nothing wrong with making a profit, but it should not be at the expense of others. Grants are requested those from individuals and organizations who make a profit, that makes me understand that everything has a place, and we all need one another since everybody cannot do the same things.

The statement “there is something unique that I only can do” really impacted me. There is a natural tendency to compare ourselves to others. We can all work on the same or similar projects, but our approach will differ because we are all different. But this should not be a reason to disassociate but to learn from one another. Is about cooperation not competition.

The new idea of CEO intrigued me. The traditional CEO is seen as he who commands, gives orders and expects action/reports. The new idea of CEO as the “chief engagement officer”, gives a new and broader dimension. It requires action and accountability from the individual in charge. It means living the values and leading with example.

“There is no new learning in the known/comfort zone”. This was deep! Individuals are usually at their best when doing what they have always done. Stepping out of the comfort zone is a risky thing to do, but until we step out we will not be able to discover our potential.

Developing a Strategic Plan/Grant Writing

Although it is good to have a project in mind, that is not enough. There are many steps to be taken into account in order to bring the project to life and its successful implementation.

We are to identify: •The problem •Why does it matter •The solution •The difference it will make •Needed resources
