As the past week, this one was exciting. I have had the opportunity to celebrate in Monroe the independence day of USA on July 4th. I have witnessed the goodness and the hospitality of the American people through the 1025 Church that offered us dinner and the concert. The fireworks were amazing and will be something I will always remember from my American journey.
I was also given the chance to have a guided visit with the CEO of the Chess and community, a grass root organization that uses the game of chess to get the youth involved. This visit took me in the Western Athens community. It was an occasion for me to see America in its depth.
I have had an instructive and rich conversation with the young people to the Clark County Library. We discussed a lot about their experiences with Chess and Community and their knowledge about Africa. I have taken advantage of this platform to present my country. I talked about the education system and the challenges we face to provide a good education to our kids.
Through the Common Leadership Curriculum, I learned a lot about my personal strengths, more interesting how to use these strengths to better my organization and inspire my colleagues. This is a daily exercise and knowledge that I will apply in my life and my work. Last but not least, I participated in the soccer competition with our friends the Fellows from Clark Atlanta University and Georgia State University. By defeating these teams, we set a record for the next cohort in UGA. It was also a platform to network and meet these friends before the summit in Washington.
