This week I was excited for many reasons, first, because I had a deep reflection on what values are crucially important for a leader, and how values can lead to successful NGOs goal setting. Second, because of the site visit to Atlanta, which was the top moment of the week, not only for what I saw which was so beautiful but because we met people who taught us how to become successful with nonprofit organizations and how they can be important for lives changing not only as an individual, but as a group, and the development of communities.
I learned how to set up goals, values, strategies, and a Project Action Plan, for a nonprofit organization. As an individual who has strong aspirations for professional and personal development, I also learned that collaboration and networking are significant for organizations growth. The highlight for the week for me, the presentation we had on how to apply for grants, which gave me the resources and knowledge available funding models and strategies for Non-Profit and Non-Governmental Organizations are provided.
The Project Action Plan was the guideline I needed as a Leader of an NGO to orientate my plans and projects. It is not only important to have an idea about a project, but it is equally important to have an action plan and know what resources are needed for the implementation. I have also learned to reflect on the values of my organization on the target people and utilize missions and visions that are achievable and address the need of the society. I have had a great start to the program with precise and adequate information on the goals of the week and I found the week activities a worthwhile experience.
